A few years after she was born, her and her family immigrated to New York. When she was sixteen, Najeeby married another Lebanese immigrant named Najeeb Basha.〔 Both of their families were following the American Dream.〔 Najeeby’s sister, Wadia, was living in Arizona at the time and was sending letters to Najeeby about all of the opportunities available in the West. Eventually, she convinced Najeeby and her husband to move out to Arizona and start a new life in 1910.〔 Once they moved out to Chandler, Arizona, they opened and ran two stores.〔 Together, Najeeby and Najeeb had seven children. They had two sons named Ike and Eddie Sr. and five daughters named Edna, Mary, Connie, Zelma, and Camille.
